Toyota Launches Its New-Generation Hybrid Toyota Mirai in Quebec.
May 09 2019, Toyota de Boucherville
The Toyota Mirai is the world's first mass-produced hydrogen fuel cell car. This true vehicle of tomorrow was previewed in Quebec, at the Montreal International Auto Show 2018 (January 18-29), during which a few dozen lucky ones were able to test drive.
The Hybrid of Tomorrow
Zero pollution, zero impact on the environment, just water! The hydrogen in the reservoir combines with the reserves of oxygen: the fusion then produces two natural emissions that we all know well. Water (H2O) and electricity. Actually, enough electricity for the 151 horsepower vehicle, a true hybrid and silent car, with a technology that keeps going further. The Toyota Mirai always pushes the hybrid concept for Toyota, after the success of the Toyota Prius Prime, the plugable electric car released in 2017
The Mirai needs hydrogen, and it turns out that Hydro Quebec is one of the world's largest producers of hydroelectricity, a 'clean' energy. The hydrogen production infrastructure is therefore in place throughout the province, and the future owners of a Mirai, will be able to refill (in 5 minutes) their car without any trouble in the whole province.
This zero-pollution sedan is a milestone in Canada's environmental future - and for our planet's. As such, Quebec is in pole position. 'Quebec is well positioned to become a world leader in energy transition, a challenge for all modern economies,' said Pierre Moreau, Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, whose department collaborated with Toyota for the development of fuel-cell cars.
Autonomous, easy to recharge and cold resistant
Did we mention it was a car tailored for Quebec? The Mirai is handing over the top three challenges of an electric car in Quebec: a 500 kilometers autonomy, a hydrogen refill done under 5 minutes, and a great resistance to dropping temperatures, like we had lately.
Its futuristic engineering is revolutionary and goes beyond sustainable mobility, but the Toyota Mirai has not forgotten the style: aerodynamic lines and multiple options add for a great sedan. LED lighting, electronic sensors on door handles, noise-reducing glass, ergonomic seats, ultra-comfortable cockpit, SmartKey, heated steering wheel, premium audio system, navigation system, etc.
For Toyota, awareness is not only environmental, it is also safe oriented: cruise speed radar, collision avoidance system, automatic lights, 8 airbags, rear-view camera, blind spot monitor, reverse crossover alarm, etc.
The commercial launch of the Toyota Mirai will happen in selected retailers in Quebec, like at Duval Toyota in Boucherville, dealership from Group Duval Auto.
